On this LYHL Podcast episode, Elle was blessed to sit down with Terry Richardson, aka The Orchid Whisperer, aka The Black Thumb and, boy, was it a treat! He is a physical therapist in Los Angeles, specializing in wound care, but is also a DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) advocate, and avid, burgeoning gardener. Terry gave out so much gold that describing the topics covered necessitates a massive run-on sentence. We talk about tennis, positivity, baby steps, Black excellence, the power of a great coach, HBCU (Historically Black Colleges & Universities), leading by example, working in a collective vs individually, giving back, evolving, limiting beliefs, worthiness, being yourself, occupying space, code switching, courage, vulnerability, authenticity, Brene Brown (of course), intentionality, self care, changing narratives, humility as energy, patience, persistence, consistency, enoughness, safety concerns growing up as a Black child, regional cultural differences in the U.S. and its impact on style.
